Using an algorithm to survey printed and electronic media, the Global Language Monitor based out of LA ranked the rise of China's economy and international profile as the most read and engaging news story of the past decade. Many nations have been preparing and adjusting to new geopolitical realities; prepping students, establishing research institutes, building business forums, channelling funds for multileveled engagement in China.

The French, German, American governments invest resources, have built mechanisms and continually send delegations of political, cultural and economic leaders to engage in Chinese society and economy. Government officials champion the interests of their national industries and are able to squeeze into the niches they can. Arab, African, Central Asian economies are increasingly interlinked with China. Students from around the third and developing world, including hundreds, if not thousands of Palestinians, learn in and do trade and commerce with China.

Despite a growing interest amongst the Israeli public in Modern Asia and a growing enrolment in Asian and Chinese studies programs at Israeli universities, there appears to be a blasé attitude towards the imminence of the Asian century. Still too few courses, and too little is known about modern China's economy, political system and society. Desperately few Israeli scholars possess expertise in the mushrooming phenomena of 21st century China. Ph.D. programs take years to complete endowing too singular scopes of competency. Proficiency of issues relating to modern China sometimes requires decades living in the country to acquire. Few incentives exist to bring returning experts home. Few Chinese scholars and experts are permitted to live and teach in Israel. The assets, organizations and people involved in building the Israeli – China future are not fully developed, lack coordination and are scantly aware of each other's existence.

There are however important leads which have the potential to tie up to form a working platform into healthy and symbiotic Israeli – Chinese relations.
