Journal of Asian – Middle East Studies (JAMES)

Name:
The Inter-Disciplinary Journal of Asian – Middle Eastern Studies (JAMES)

Aims & Scope
The Inter Disciplinary Journal of Asian-Middle Eastern Studies (JAMES - ID) aims to comprehensively examine interdisciplinary issues at the nexus between the Middle East and Asia – to be published online.

The geo-economic and political relationship between the two land-linked regions of the Middle East and Asia, neglected over a century of European and American hegemony, has rapidly grown, becoming more independent of “Western” interests. Borne of their geographic connectedness and strategic assets, a myriad of commercial ties, large scale joint developments and major infra-structure projects, mutual investment arrangements and general social, political and economic cooperation has surged. The availability of information on the subject has nonetheless remained surprisingly scarce.

Major diplomatic initiatives from the China – Arab Co-operation Forum to major oil and gas pipeline projects suggest a new era has dawned on Middle East - Asian relations, require more thorough redress.

JAMES' goal is to be a leading journal carving an academic niche of its own by publishing exclusive, original and important papers, articles, documents, reports, surveys and other works in the major fields, sub and inter-disciplinary fields surveying the the existing condition and the panoply of burgeoning disciplines related to Asia and the Middle East.

JAMES' goal is to be a leading journal publishing original and important papers, articles, documents, reports, surveys and other works in major fields, sub and inter-disciplinary fields surveying

JAMES aims to encourage through publication the emergence of new disciplines, larger numbers of scholars and more refined tools and more comprehensive information to better understand the complex realities, interconnectedness and overall potentials inherent in the region.

JAMES aims to become a forum and platform for scholars and experts dealing with larger regional issues and to serve as a medium for the dissemination of their scholarly and informed contributions, knowledge, insight and skills to an even wider audience of researchers, policy makers, political scientists, diplomats, teachers, government, non-government and commercial organizations, professional and technical consultants, students, and any interested citizens, who in turn, it is hoped, will promote informed, harmonious and mutually beneficial development.

JAMES' editorial advisors seek to more rigorously guide the exploration of themes, policies and ideas they consider important, by prioritizing publishing of focused papers and other material of their choice.

Themes and Structure
JAMES aims at including historical and cultural perspectives relating to Asia and the Middle East, while primarily addressing the most current political, economic, diplomatic, administrative, religious, social, demographic, military and strategic issues, with attention to major trade and industrial phenomena developing between the regions; international projects,  infrastructure projects, mutual interests in energy, sustainability,  the environment, green technology, international relations, and peace building issues.

Israel's "Oz" immigration inspector unit accused of raiding Tel Aviv church in search of illegal immigrants
Israel's "Oz" immigration inspector unit accused of raiding Tel Aviv church in search of illegal immigrants. IAC president, Prof. Avrum Ehrlich: "Israel's policy on illegal residents unnecessarily alienates potential foreign workers. Israel could do better by crafting a 'win-win' policy for foreign residency in the State. By leveraging foreign workers' language skills, home networks, their bravery and proximity to the Tel Aviv CBD, a problematic situation can be turned into lasting opportunities to develop partnership programs, business and cultural bridges with foreign nations. Cultivating Israel's sorely lacking knowledge of Asian and African regions while maintaining the dignity of workers and refugees is preferable over present ill conceived policy".
